The Flood
“For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.” Matthew 24:38-39
There are those who believe the flood recorded in Genesis 7 was not a worldwide flood, and others who believe the story is just a myth. I have spoken to those who call themselves Christians who do not believe in a literal six-day creation, worldwide flood, parting of the Red Sea, or that the sun stood still. This lack of belief creates a difficult dilemma for those who claim to be Christians. You are forced to pick and choose what you believe to be figurative and literal.
Did Jesus really mean He is the way, the truth, and the life? Did He really mean that no one can come to the Father except through Him? Did He rise from the dead? Did He heal the sick, raise the dead, calm the storm, walk on water, make the blind see, and the lame walk? Did He die for our sins? As a follower of Christ, we don’t get to pick and choose what we want out of the Bible to be true. Either it is all true, or none of it is true. If you claim to be a Christian, then Jesus is your Lord and Savior. In Matthew 24, Jesus was talking with His disciples and was telling them about his second coming. He affirmed the story of the flood in Genesis 7. If the Son of God affirmed it, why would I not believe that it occurred just the way the Bible describes it?
The affirmed the Old Testament.
“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that bear witness about Me; “ John 5:39
“Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.” Matthew 5:17
Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day,” Luke 24:44-46
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Moses has not given you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” John 6:31-33
What a blessing it is to know that there is no reason for us to doubt the Word of God in both the Old and New Testament

**If you have never had the opportunity to go see the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky, I would encourage you to take a trip this summer. It is a day’s drive (8 hours) and well worth your time and money.
