He Cares!

“Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive  mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”                  Hebrews 4:16

When the letter to the Hebrews was written almost 2000 years ago, the common man could   never hope to have access to an audience with      their King. Even Esther, the queen of the Persian King Ahasuerus (Xerxes I), could only have an         audience with the King if summoned to the throne room. But for Christians, everything  changed dramatically when Jesus died and rose from the dead, transforming our relationship with God.

Jesus, in his divine role, did not grant us access to earthly kings, but He did grant us access    to the very throne of God the Father. Until Jesus’ death on the cross, the high priest was the only person who could make intercession for people’s sins. At that moment when Jesus died, the veil in    the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, symbolizing the direct access we now have to God through Jesus.

Now, every believer can confidently and boldly approach the throne of God the Father, knowing He will listen to our praises and petitions. But it doesn’t stop there; Jesus Himself intercedes on our behalf (Heb.7:25). God the Father bends His ear to hear us (Ps. 116:2), Jesus the Son intercedes, and the Holy Spirit has a role.

Paul wrote to the church in Rome, “And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness, for     we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;”  ( Rom 8:26).

Christian, you are privileged to have the Triune God listen to and plead for you when you pray. Therefore, do not neglect this privilege. Pray without ceasing to the One who sent His Son to save you and gave you the Holy Spirit to indwell in you.

Your shepherd,

Pastor Mark
